LFA Partners and Youth Honoured

The Light from Africa Foundation (LFAF) team hosted special certificate handover ceremonies recently, to celebrate the achievement of our youth beneficiaries, programme facilitators and partners, who continue to support our vision of lighting the flames of hope and creativity in the lives of marginalised communities in the Western Cape.

In Suurbraak, project facilitators and partners were warmly welcomed by LFAF Director—Almarie Pelser and Project Coordinators—Godfrey Hendrickse and Lynne Roscoe, before being awarded their certificates and some refreshments. Guests also enjoyed various displays of arts and crafts that were produced by the children who attend various programmes at the Trust House resource centre.

The youth beneficiaries of our Urban Future Leaders programme were also awarded certificates for their participation in various programmes throughout the year that aims to nurture and develop their overall well-being with the purpose of growth, evolution, and personal elevation – physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

Susan and George Manter from Maine in the USA, who generously supported the Mullersrus Primary School Library project were also in attendance and were acknowledged for their contribution. Joining them was Christopher Gregorowski—one of our co-founders. He shared the following reflections:

“At all these events, we were encouraged and amazed by the work being done among children and adults in schools and communities and the enthusiasm of the facilitators and participants. The gatherings hosted by LFAF and at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens gave us a sense of community, cohesion and teamwork in what we are doing. I am grateful for the experience.”
