Light from Africa Foundation Announces Leadership Transition

The Light from Africa Foundation announces an organisational leadership transition as Almarie Pelser, the organisation’s founding Director, has decided to step down from her role after two decades of service and leadership.

Since the Foundation’s inception, Almarie has been central to shaping its vision, establishing key programmes, and building meaningful partnerships that have expanded opportunities for young people and communities across South Africa.

To support this next phase, the Board has appointed Godfrey Hendrickse as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Godfrey brings extensive experience in community engagement, programme coordination, and operational leadership. His long-standing role within the Foundation, along with strong relationships with schools and partners, positions him well to guide the organisation with stability and continuity.

The Foundation remains focused on strengthening its library projects, expanding youth development programmes, and deepening community partnerships. For updates on our work or upcoming projects, email info@lightfromafrica.com.
