FOUNDERS, BOARD MEMBERS AND ASSOCIATES

ANTHONY & CAROLE RECORD
The Light From Africa Foundation was founded by philanthropists Anthony and Carole Record.
With the initial vision to help orphans and to generate work opportunities for talented ceramicists, an invaluable investment has been made in the lives of young people in and around Cape Town.
Carole and Anthony received the Inyathelo Philanthropy to South Africa Award in 2010.

Christopher Gregorowski
Christopher Gregorowski matriculated from Bishops in 1956. At a class reunion 20 years ago he, then Anglican Bishop of Table Bay, met with Anthony and Carole Record.
Together they conceived the idea of Light From Africa as an outreach to disadvantaged children and young people in the Western Cape. They have worked together on the Light From Africa Foundation board ever since.
With years of experience, Christopher brings calm statesmanship to the board and is instrumental in shaping the vision and mission.

GODFREY HENDRICKSE
Godfrey Hendrickse, who volunteers as the Projects Coordinator for the LFAF, and Lynne Roscoe are both seasoned educators with a wealth of experience in outreach work.Â
They are invaluable in the planning and running of the projects. Their passion for and knowledge of all the beneficiaries we work with, are essential for our success and to fulfill our mission.

LYNNE ROSCOE

Nicholas Bicket
Nicholas Bicket spent 32 years divided between Supermarketing and Retail.Â
Nicky now consults internationally in the areas of Strategy and Leadership Effectiveness.
He has two adult daughters and his wife lectures in the field of cognitive- and sociolinguistics.
He is also a classical organist.

LEE SPRAGUE
Lee Sprague lives in the USA, and is fondly being referred to as our ‘American Ally.’ Board members appreciate her understanding of the South African realities and her loving commitment to the Foundation’s projects.
She brings a distinctive international perspective to board meetings which is of great value to both management and decision-makers.

GAVIN YELL
Gavin Yell has been part of the vision for Light from Africa since its inception in 2004.
He has been our accountant since then. Gavin is passionately committed to the development of this Foundation.
As an intricate part of the Light From Africa family he has played an invaluable role in the Foundation’s management. He is invaluable to us, and is always prepared to listen and give sound advice when we rely on his wisdom.

Christine Dube-Basson
Christine Dube-Basson is an executive director and the project facilitator of Care of the Carers project. Christine is known for her compassion, care and people skills which are reflected in her personal life and her work. She recently received a humanitarian award from the Southern Suburbs Youth Academy.

ALMARIE PELSER
Almarie Pelser, the executive director, has been with the Foundation since 2004.
Almarie is a key figure in the success of Light From Africa’s projects. Her loyalty and dedication to the Foundation and her passion for the people served are infectious and inspirational to all who meet her.
